Pobail Scoil Na Trionide, Youghal defeated Colaiste Ide agus Iosef, Abbeyfeale by 2-17 to 2-12 in the 2025/2026 TUS Corn Roibeard Ui Bhuachalla (U17 C Football) Final on November 27th at Banteer.
Pobalscoil Na Tríonoide claw their way to victory in the Under 17 Munster Football Final
The U17 Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide side faced the Abbeyfeale side, Coláiste Íde agus Iosef in Banteer on the 27th of November at midday.
In very windy conditions, Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide started the game playing against it. Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide showed resilience against the firing Abbeyfeale side, creating multiple scoring opportunities but unfortunately only converting three points. The physicality of Coláiste Íde agus Iosef dominated the first half, bringing it to an eight point lead at half time.
The second half saw a very different side to Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide. Donnacha Ó Colmáin, Ruben Vila O’Riordan and Oran Coleman won vital possession in the centre of the field, with Carthach Ó Laoire distributing some top class passes into Marley Walsh and Andy O’Sullivan. Marley Walsh showed great class and composure, scoring two goals and eight points.
The Abbeyfeale side did not relent. The one-on-one battles between all players on the pitch showed grit and desire, bringing us to the end of the second half to a one point lead for Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide, credit to Carthach Ó Laoire and Marley Walsh. Within the final dying minute, Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide conceded a technical foul resulting in a 13 yard free. The referee went on to blow the full-time whistle seconds after.
In extra time, fresh legs stood up for Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide, showing the strength in their panel. Iosac Mac Mathúna, Joe Cashman and Cian Hogan put on a display for the Pobalscoil side, helping the team edge their way over the line. Pobalscoil Na Tríonóide demonstrated great game management skills, extending their lead to 2-17 to 2-12.
Pobascoil Na Tríonóide lifted the cup to victory after an incredible performance with an outstanding comeback. Well done to all involved.
