Thurles CBS won the toss and from the throw-in, hit the ground running when Gearóid Troy scored a goal in the opening 30 seconds. Doon replied with points by Ryan Renehan (free) and William Barry before Darren Flood recorded a second goal for Thurles CBS to leave them in front by 2-1 to 0-2 after seven minutes.
There was little between the sides for the remainder of the first half with Doon enjoying a significant share of possession. However, four scoreable frees were not converted for the Doon side while Devon Ryan pointed three frees for Thurles in the opening period and by the interval, Thurles led by seven points, 2-7 to 0-6.
A good start to the second half was what Scoil Na Trioniode Doon required but instead it was Thurles CBS who raced out of the blocks. Points by Devon Ryan (2) and Gearoid Troy (2) inside the opening four minutes of the second half extended the Thurles lead to 11 points. While Doon did reply with two pointed frees, Thurles then went on a 1-9 to 0-0 spurt, the goal coming courtesy of Devon Ryan penalty in the 55th minute after Max Hackett was fouled. There was still time for Thurles CBS sub Jack Lanigan to score his sides fourth goal in the last minute as the Tipperary side ran out winners by 4-19 to 0-9.
