Dr. Harty Cup 2016/2017 starts on Wednesday
The Dr. Harty Cup (Under 18.5 A Hurling) competition will get underway on Wednesday October 12th with two fixtures down for decision.
The format of the Harty Cup has been changed for this season with a total of 19 schools split in to 8 groups. Two teams will qualify from each group with every school guaranteed two matches. There are 3 groups with 3 schools each who will play off to determine the top 2 placings. In the other 5 groups of 2 teams each, there will be a single match with the winner being seeded in the round of 16 to play a runner-up from another group.
Once the group stages have been completed, the competition will be run on a knockout basis with last 16 matches scheduled for November 30th 2016. The Quarter-Finals are down for decision on January 11th 2017, the Semi-Finals on January 28th 2017 with the Harty Cup Final pencilled in for Saturday February 18th 2017.
