Corn Seosamh Ui Neill Final 2019
Colaiste Dun Iascaigh 1-10 Beara Community School 0-8
Colaiste Dun Iascaigh, Cahir, County Tipperary retained the Corn Seasamh Ui Neill trophy (Under 16 ½) with a hard-fought victory over Beara C.S, Castletownbere in Ballincollig, Cork.
Playing with the wind, Beara scored straight from the throw in. However, soon after Cahir scored a fortuitous goal from a long delivery from captain Christopher McDonagh. Both sides exchanged points before Cahir pulled ahead with good points from Jack Buckley, Francie Delaney and Zach Keating. At half time, Cahir enjoyed a 1-5 to 0-4 lead.
Cahir started the second half very strongly with impressive displays from Eoin Wyse, Aaron Polonius and Conor and Liam O’Neill. Were it not for three great saves from the Beara goalie, Cahir would have been much further ahead. As it was, Cahir extended their lead to 7 points. However, Beara put in a strong last ten minutes which resulted in points from frees. Yet the goal they needed eluded them and Cahir held out for a 1-10 to 0-8 victory.
