CBS Ennistymon and St Mary’s Newport enjoyed a very competitive quarter final early Monday morning in Cratloe GAA. The final score of 3-17 to 2-14 in favour of Newport reflects a high-scoring tight encounter.
Both sides relied on their free taker to keep the score board ticking over, with CBS’s centre forward Jack Cullinan accounting for 11 points of his side’s tally. Other scorers for Ennistymon included Flynn McDowell and Colm Breen with a point each, Cian McMahon with a goal and captain Conor Rynne with 1-1.
CBS found themselves 1-12 to 6 points down at half time, having conceded a goal in the minutes before the break, but started the second half the brighter with a well taken goal from McMahon.
Newport held their composure to maintain the 6 point gap for the remainder of the game and were deserving winners at the final whistle.
