St Paul’s Community College Waterford are the TUS Munster GAA Post Primary Schools Under 19 E Hurling champions for the first time after a two point win over Newport College on Monday afternoon at Sean Treacy Park Tipperary Town.

St Paul’s Community College Waterford 1-10 Newport College 1-8

This was a closely contested game throughout and a Steven Cooke goal midway through the first half helped St Paul’s to a 1-6 to 1-5 lead at the interval.

The second half was a cagey affair as St Paul’s and Newport exchanged some fantastic scores. Under serious pressure in the final quarter, St Paul’s defended gallantry with Eoghan Barry and Caoilinn Reville to the fore as they held a narrow lead. A late point by Pa Maloney just on the stroke of full time ensured the cup would be going to St Paul’s on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-7.

St Paul’s had standout performances from Noah McCormack, Caoilin Reville and Josh Jacob and with this victory, St Paul’s became the second Waterford school to win this competition following the success of Mount Sion in 2017 and 2023.
